Many Parts, One Body
We are so blessed to spend the weekends at loving, welcoming parishes. We have the opportunity to interact with incredible people who are willing to share all that they have, and that isn’t just financial support.
We have received bracelets, advice, rosaries, stories, and even a hat.
Everyone gives whatever they have, whatever God has blessed them with. I feel honored that they want to share these gifts with us; that they are willing to even take the hats off their heads to give to us. And I love that these gifts come in so many different forms. It’s a reflection of a larger idea as well. God has given all of us different personalities, talents, gifts, and abilities and we are called to give these gifts back and use them for the betterment of the Kingdom of God. This is so evident within our team. Some of us are good at cooking, others at planning or listening or leading. All of these skills are beautiful and necessary for us to function as a whole. St. Paul said it best when he said “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work…Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” (1 Corinthians 12:4-6. 12). With all of our different skills and abilities, we make up the Body of Christ and can do great things.
If everyone offers what they have, amazing things can be done. I’ve seen it already. And it’s beautiful.
