“We all scream for ice cream!”
Recently I had a wonderful walking experience that I won’t soon forget. As Sophia, Yale, and I walked along the country road talking about horses and cows we met an unexpected visitor who made our morning. She pulled into a driveway not far ahead of us and came out of her car. She asked about our Pro-Life shirts and what we were doing. Once we started explaining our mission about walking across the country spreading the pro-life message she went over to her car trunk and began rummaging around her groceries. At first I thought she was going to give us a cake or case of water or something else that might be an inconvenience to carry another 2 miles. Then she pulled out 2 boxes of ice cream bars and asked us which flavor we’d prefer. With smiles on our faces one person replied chocolate. She opened the box and gave us each an ice cream bar. It was such a little gesture in the big picture but in that morning sun it was the perfect treat. She may not realize just how grateful we all were for her kindness. Sometimes it is little, unexpected events throughout the course of the walk that have the power to bring the biggest smiles to our faces and joy to our hearts.
